"... what a piece of work is man."

Last night my hubby and I saw In Bruges. It was wonderful. A modern day Shakespearean tragedy if you will. Do not see this movie if:
  • You have a problem with the word fuck ... or cunt ... or cock. They say those words a lot in this movie.
  • You don't have the stomach for violence, like the real life, you get shot in the neck and your vein explodes type of violence, as opposed to the "Die Hard" you get shot with a machine gun 10 times and you can still crawl through duct work variety.
  • You don't get sarcasm.
Do see this movie if:
  • You can appreciate a good shakespearean-esque tragedy. This definitely qualifies.
  • You can handle seeing what death can really look like and the site of fake blood doesn't bother you.
  • You like complex, well-developed characters and can appreciate that we are all flawed.
So, there ya have it. In Bruges is not the movie for everyone, but many folks will really appreciate this film.

I would also highly recommend Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Amy Adams, Francis McDormand, Lee Pace. 'Nuf said.

I, for one, refuse to see a movie if it DOESN'T have those things in it.
